Pocahontas Premieres will return to the Heritage Amphitheater at Pocahontas State Park in Virginia beginning May 10, bringing a fresh lineup of musical performances and continuing its tradition of showcasing local and national talent.

The series will open with American Idol golden ticket winner Carrie Brockwell, a Chesterfield native, with fellow Season 20 contestant Hazi as the opening act.

“We are excited to showcase our local artist from Chesterfield, Carrie Brockwell, who also happens to have been a contestant on American Idol,” Pocahontas State Park Assistant Manager Mike Biby said in a press release.

The May 10 performance starts at 6:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $20 and available for purchase online or at the gate.

Among the new acts featured in this year’s series is Kanin Wren’s Taylor Swift Experience, described as a family-friendly show with dancing, audience participation, and a full band, including a concert violinist. The tribute act adds a new element to the summer program aimed at reaching broader audiences.

Returning performers also include The Deloreans, The Richmond Symphony, Brooke McBride with Jimmy Fitch, and ZOSO with Hold the Line. The series, which runs through October, continues to blend a mix of genres that appeal to a wide range of musical tastes.

“This year we have a more diverse mix of genres,” Biby said. “Our stage is a great platform to highlight local artists as well as bring back familiar bands that have quickly become crowd favorites.”

The Heritage Amphitheater will also host the park’s annual Bluegrass Festival on July 19. The festival lineup includes Josh Grigsby and County Line, Tara Mills Band, Hickory Ridge Bluegrass Band, and Hammaville.

Pocahontas Premieres is presented in partnership with the Friends of Pocahontas State Park. The Richmond Symphony performances are additionally sponsored by Chesterfield Parks and Recreation and the Friends Group.
