Southwest Airlines Unveils New Fare Products, Benefits for Loyalty Members

15 hours ago 2

Southwest Airlines is continuing its dramatic transformation this spring, updating its fare products and announcing new benefits for Rapid Rewards credit card members and A-List and A-List Preferred tier members.

Beginning May 28, Choice Extra, Choice Preferred, and Choice will replace Business Select, Anytime, and Wanna Get Away Plus, respectively.

Meanwhile, Southwest's Wanna Get Away fare class will become the airline's Basic fare.

“With new choices like seat selection and Extra Legroom, our enhanced fare bundles let customers customize their trip while still enjoying our industry-leading reliability and hospitality,” Tony Roach, Executive Vice President Customer & Brand, said in a statement.

Coming soon, cardmembers will have the opportunity to select a seat, regardless of fare type. They can also receive a boarding benefit and have their first checked bag free (for up to eight additional passengers traveling on the same reservation).

At the same time, A-List Preferred tier members will be able to take advantage of preferred seating, checked bags (for up to eight additional passengers traveling on the same reservation), earlier boarding and other in-flight experience enhancements.

The checked bag benefits begin May 28 with the rollout of the new fare products, while seating and boarding benefits will begin when Southwest starts selling and operating with assigned seating next year.
