San Antonio travelers looking for an easy escape to the Caribbean now have a new, convenient option. Spirit Airlines has introduced a nonstop route between San Antonio International Airport (SAT) and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The newly launched service, operating up to four times per week, marks the first-ever direct connection from SAT to the Caribbean, offering a seamless travel experience for both vacationers and those visiting friends and family.
"Our new, milestone service provides critical connectivity between the two vibrant communities of San Antonio and San Juan," said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines. "We're always looking to add new, exciting destinations for our Guests to visit and explore, and our new service will make it easier for travelers to enjoy a vacation on the Island of Enchantment or the Alamo City."
Since 2022, the airline has grown its network to eight nonstop destinations from the Texas hub. Additionally, travelers can look forward to another new route launching on April 9, 2025, with daily nonstop flights between SAT and Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

Spirit continues to position itself as a leader in budget-friendly air travel while enhancing the customer experience. The airline has introduced four new travel options catering to different needs, from premium seating to economical choices. Travelers can book flights now on Spirit’s website to take advantage of the airline’s competitive fares.
Spirit’s efforts in providing affordable, reliable service have earned plenty of industry recognition. For instance, the airline was recently named a 2025 Four Star Low Cost Carrier by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), was honored by ch-aviation for having one of the youngest fleets in the world and received the FAA's Aviation Maintenance Technician Diamon Award for Excellence for the seventh year running.
