Ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Ponant Explorations plans to sail all the way around Antarctica.

The company will undertake the feat with its icebreaker ship Le Commandant Charcot. The 245-guest vessel will depart from Ushuaia, Argentina, in January 2028 and spend the next three months circumnavigating the White Continent. The 11,200-mile voyage is scheduled to end in March 2028.

The itinerary was designed by Ponant captains Etienne Garcia and Patrick Marchesseau, who will jointly commend Le Commandant Charcot during the cruise. Along the way, guests will have a chance to explore Antarctica on Zodiac cruises, snowshoe hikes, kayak excursions and other activities. They can also participate in the polar plunge.

Bookings will open in December.

“Ponant Explorations’ spirit is about those moments of shared awe as we witness the immense forces of nature at pla,” says Garcia. “It is a privilege to help [guests] experience how we humbly engage with the elements—the wind, the sea, the ice—bringing us as close as possible to the marvels of the natural world.”
