Nassau Cruise Port Partners on Straw Market Promotion

Nassau Cruise Port is partnering with the Bahamas’ Straw Market Authority to initiate “Rooted in Tradition, Made in The Bahamas,” a promotional campaign highlighting the diverse indigenous products sold at Nassau’s iconic Straw Market.

The campaign will encourage local residents and visitors to support the local economy and celebrate Bahamian craftsmanship’s the rich history and “the true spirit of Bahamian culture” through the purchase of Straw Market products.

Campaign elements will include events, promotions and digital content designed to “engage tourists and locals, encouraging them to discover and purchase products that reflect the authenticity of The Bahamas,” said Nassau Cruise Port officials.

Throughout the campaign, Straw Market visitors will be encouraged explore the facility’s array of handcrafted goods, straw crafts, jewelry, wood carvings and clothing created by talented Bahamian artisans.

“The Straw Market is a living testament to the craftsmanship, resilience and creativity that define The Bahamas,” said Maya Nottage Nassau Cruise Port’s regional director.

Said Nottage, “This collaboration with the Straw Market Authority will help us bring this rich cultural experience to the forefront, offering an authentic connection to our heritage for all who visit.”

“The Straw Market is a vital part of Nassau’s cultural fabric and we are thrilled to partner with Nassau Cruise Port on this campaign,” said Carolyn Bowe, managing director of the Straw Market Authority.

“It gives us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent and hard work of our artisans, while also reinforcing the importance of supporting local businesses,” Bowe said.

She added, “This initiative is a testament to the enduring spirit of Bahamian craftsmanship and the pride we take in creating products that are truly made in The Bahamas.”
