MSC Cruises has officially welcomed MSC World America to its fleet.
On Wednesday, the cruise line hosted a naming ceremony at the new MSC Miami Cruise Terminal at PortMiami. Godmother Drew Barrymore named the ship and cut a ribbon that broke a bottle on the ship’s bow in a historic maritime tradition.
Barrymore was joined by actor Orlando Bloom. Together, the duo starred in MSC Cruises’ “Lets Holiday” ad campaign. Guests also attended a gala dinner, watched performances and enjoyed a drone and fireworks show.
“I’ve had a lifelong passion for travel, which has always fueled my soul and left me with the most awesome memories,” says Barrymore. “Millions of people will create their own memories aboard this beautiful ship as time goes by, and I know they’ll have a blast experiencing everything MSC World America has to offer.”
MSC World America is now on a two-night celebratory journey to MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. While there, the cruise line will also host a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Marine Conservation Center.
The ship will embark on her first cruise on April 12, spending her first season offering 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
