Reservations for the Blackfoot River Recreation Corridor’s float-in campsites (Montana) opened at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 3, with a revised booking process in place.
The corridor, which stretches from Russell Gates to Johnsrud Park Fishing Access Site, features eight paddle-up campsites that must be reserved in advance during the float season, running from April 1 to Oct. 31.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) announced that reservations will now open several months ahead of time, with availability for an additional month released on the first Monday of each month. The change is intended to streamline access and provide more planning flexibility for paddlers.
According to an article published by 8KPAX on March 3, campers interested in securing a spot can check available dates on the FWP website and book through the Reserve America call center at 1-855-922-6768. The modified system is expected to help distribute bookings more evenly throughout the season.
The Blackfoot River Recreation Corridor is a popular destination for paddlers, offering scenic waterways and designated campsites accessible only by boat. The reservation requirement aims to manage visitor numbers and minimize environmental impact along the river.
“Camping within the Blackfoot River Recreation Corridor is limited to the permitted Float-In camps only. Camping outside of a designated float-in camping permit within the Blackfoot River Recreation Corridor is prohibited,” Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks indicated on its website.
