Marriott International, Inc. opened the first City Express by Marriott-branded hotel in the United States this week in Duluth, Georgia.

The City Express by Marriott Duluth is an affordable midscale hotel with complimentary breakfast, 24-hour markets, pet-friendly policies and fitness facilities. It offers 83 rooms just a thirty-minute drive from downtown Atlanta.

The brand has over 45 signed agreements in the U.S. and Canada, with about 12 expected to open this year. Other new hotels include the City Express by Marriott New Orleans Northeast and the City Express by Marriott Orlando International Drive.

Marriott acquired the City Express brand in 2023 when it was a midscale brand located primarily in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. Marriott has since announced expansions into Nicaragua, Peru, Bolivia and other parts of the region.

"The launch of City Express by Marriott in the U.S. and Canada market underscores our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all travelers," says Diana Plazas-Trowbridge, Chief Lodging Products Officer, U.S. and Canada, "Whether for business or leisure, guests at City Express by Marriott in the U.S. and Canada will now experience the same seamless, efficient stay that has made the brand a success in the CALA region. We're excited to bring this unique blend of value and convenience to new travelers and Marriott Bonvoy members."
