Eland the plush moose will debut on Holland America Line’s Alaska cruises this season.
Guests will be able to take home a new, adorable friend as a souvenir. The moose will be available for purchase on all six ships cruising in Alaska starting in April.
At a later date, the stuffed animal will also be available for purchase at Denali Lodge.
Eland is a symbol of Holland America Line’s commitment to protecting the region’s wildlife. The plush moose’s name is also a nod to the line’s European heritage, as “eland” is a Dutch word that means “moose.”
Eland joins mascot Lewie the Lion, who is also available for purchase aboard all ships year-round.
To celebrate Eland's arrival, Holland America Line is donating $2 of every plush moose sold during the 2025 Alaska season to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC).
In 2024, the company formed a partnership with the center, which rehabilitates injured and orphaned animals. Guests sailing with Holland America Line can participate in responsible moose encounters at the center’s facility, including feeding the resident moose while learning about his diet and behavior.
The center visit is available as part of two shore excursions in Anchorage or Whittier.
