Greater Ottumwa Park Campground Opens for 2025 Season

The campground at Greater Ottumwa Park has opened for the 2025 season. The seasonal opening signals the return of outdoor recreation as warmer weather approaches.

Campers planning to visit early in the season should be aware that water will not be available at campsites until mid-April. 

The Ottumwa Parks and Recreation Department said it looks forward to welcoming residents and travelers for another season. 

The campground remains a key part of the city’s outdoor recreation offerings, attracting visitors who enjoy fishing, hiking, and other park amenities.

According to its website, Ottumwa’s parks provide a diverse range of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike. 

With amenities such as camping, fishing, bicycle and pedestrian trails, baseball and softball diamonds, children’s playgrounds, disc golf, volleyball courts, picnic areas, tennis and basketball courts, and performance stage areas, the city’s park system caters to outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds. 

Soccer fields and other facilities further enhance the options available, making Ottumwa a hub for community gatherings and outdoor activities.

Greater Ottumwa Park serves as the backdrop for some of the city’s most anticipated annual events. The park hosts the Balloon Races, the Greater Ottumwa Rodeo, and Midwest Ford Fest, attracting crowds from across the region.
