Fiji Airways, the flag carrier of Fiji and the South Pacific, has joined oneworld alliance and American Airlines' AAdvantage program, with benefits for members beginning April 1.
Customers flying Fiji Airways or a oneworld alliance member airline will now enjoy access to nearly 700 airport lounges across the globe, priority check-in and boarding and the ability to earn tier points and rewards miles to redeem for future travel.
The airline's hub is located at Nadi International Airport. It currently flies to 25 destinations across 14 countries and territories.
"Becoming a full member of the oneworld alliance is a proud and momentous milestone for Fiji Airways. This achievement reflects our commitment to providing world-class service and expanding our global reach, while showcasing the warmth and hospitality of Fiji to the world, said Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways. "As a full member, we are excited to offer our customers even greater benefits and seamless connectivity across the extensive oneworld network. We look forward to welcoming more oneworld customers onboard to experience the beauty of Fiji and the exceptional service of Fiji Airways."
The oneworld alliance comprises 14 major airlines: Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Fiji Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan Airlines.
Additionally, members of American Airlines' AAdvantage loyalty program will also reap the benefits of the new alliance: beginning April 1, members can earn and redeem AAdvantage points when flying Fiji Airways. They will receive benefits like priority boarding, complimentary bags and lounge access.
"The partnership between American and Fiji Airways is giving customers more ways to unlock new travel experiences. As part of the AAdvantage program, members flying on either airline can immediately enjoy an elevated travel experience," said Anmol Bhargava, American's Senior Vice President of Alliances. "Travel is better as an AAdvantage member, and American extends a very warm welcome to Fiji Airways customers joining the program."
