Disneyland Paris is set to bring the African savanna to life in a bold new way. Disney has announced fresh details about the highly anticipated Lion King-themed attraction, which will anchor a brand-new immersive land within the reimagined Disney Adventure World. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2025, with the attraction expected to debut after the park’s World of Frozen grand opening in 2026.
This marks the first time Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Lion King will receive its own dedicated land in a Disney park. At its heart will be a sprawling water-based ride that takes guests on a journey through memorable scenes from the 1994 animated classic. Visitors will travel through the vibrant landscapes of the Pride Lands, accompanied by beloved characters and unforgettable songs from the film.
The experience will begin in the shadowy caves beneath a towering 120-foot-tall Pride Rock, setting the stage for an adventure grounded in the themes of family, destiny and the Circle of Life. Guests will board boats and glide through key moments from Simba’s journey, brought to life with cutting-edge special effects and highly detailed Audio-Animatronics.
The as-yet-untitled ride promises to prove a standout at the park, incorporating three exhilarating drops, including one thrilling 52-foot plunge. Its combination of immersive storytelling and high-impact ride elements will make it one of the largest and most ambitious attractions ever built at Disneyland Paris.
Beyond the ride itself, the new land will offer additional ways to step into the world of The Lion King, from themed dining and merchandise locations to interactive character meet-and-greets with some of fans’ favorite faces from the franchise.
This expansion is part of a larger transformation effort at the former Walt Disney Studios Park, now evolving into Disney Adventure World. With over 90% of the park’s offerings undergoing reimagination, the changes will nearly double its current footprint.
Disneyland Paris is also preparing additional new experiences, including a family-friendly attraction inspired by Pixar’s Up. With so many projects in the pipeline, the resort's future looks brighter than ever.
