Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area in Kentucky will celebrate National Park Week 2025 from April 19 through April 27, offering visitors a chance to explore its scenic landscapes and cultural heritage.
According to a press release, to mark the occasion, backcountry camping permits will be available at a 50% discount on April 19, encouraging both experienced backpackers and newcomers to experience the park’s remote areas.
National Park Week is an annual event aimed at highlighting the significance of national parks across the United States. Each day of the week will focus on a different theme, providing visitors with opportunities to engage in environmental conservation, historical appreciation, and outdoor recreation.
The celebration includes themed activities such as Earth Day and Junior Ranger Day.
“Join us for National Park Week, happening April 19 to April 27 to celebrate everything parks. There are more than 400 national parks of different shapes, sizes, and kinds to experience. Also discover what the National Park Service does to preserve natural and cultural heritage and provide recreational opportunities,” NPS announced.
Children are also invited to bring their families and friends to National Junior Ranger Day, where they can participate in activities designed to inspire a love for nature and history. Visitors can earn an official Junior Ranger badge at most parks anytime during National Park Week.
