RV Industry Eyes Booming Wellness Tourism Market

The RV industry is positioning itself to benefit from the growth of wellness tourism, a sector valued at $1.3 trillion by 2025, according to the Global Wellness Institute.

Go RVing, the RV industry’s marketing arm, recently spotlighted the trend as a key opportunity for stakeholders across the outdoor hospitality space.

According to a News and Insights report of RVIA, the Global Wellness Institute defines wellness tourism as “travel associated with the pursuit of maintaining or enhancing one’s personal wellbeing.” This segment is where tourism and wellness, two expanding, multi-trillion-dollar industries, intersect.

Go RVing notes that holistic health and prevention are “increasingly at the center of consumer decision-making,” with many travelers aiming to maintain their wellness routines even while away from home.

“Wellness tourism turns travel into an opportunity to maintain and improve holistic health,” the report indicated.

RV travel supports wellness tourism by enabling access to nature and outdoor spaces. RVers can visit state and national parks, boondocking sites, and campgrounds, all of which offer physical, mental, and emotional health benefits.

Go RVing emphasizes that RV travel promotes wellness by encouraging physical activity through hiking, biking, swimming, and more.

It also highlights the RV lifestyle’s ability to help travelers “unplug and enjoy nature’s mental health benefits, emphasizing relaxation, peace, and mindfulness.”

In addition to the individual benefits, RV travel can foster stronger relationships among family, friends, and fellow RVers.

As Go RVing explains, RVing helps “elevate social bonds between friends and family who are traveling in their RV together, as well as facilitate connection with other RVers (i.e. campsites, RV clubs, etc.).”
