Disneyland is marking a milestone with its 70th anniversary celebration, starting May 16, 2025. The celebration is a vibrant blend of nostalgic tributes and fresh experiences designed to create lasting memories for guests of all ages.
Creating an Emotional Connection
Disneyland Resort really showcases the importance of emotional connection through the crafting of the park's 70th anniversary festivities. The celebration aims to honor Walt Disney's legacy while introducing new elements that resonate with today's visitors through a theme that, at it’s core, is “happy.”
“Happy is a celebration. It’s a party. It’s something that we want people to get excited about,” said Dave Caranci, Manager, Creative Development. “We wanted this to be the best birthday party ever, and we want all of you to celebrate with us.”
The team has focused on creating a holistic experience through carefully designed decor, character interactions, special food offerings, exclusive merchandise and entertainment.
Working closely with legendary Disney Imagineer Kim Irvine, the design team has incorporated sophistication and tradition throughout the park, with special attention to decorating Main Street and featuring the new castle icon in the hub area.

Entertainment Spectaculars
The centerpiece of the celebration includes a robust lineup of live entertainment options. The Jonas Brothers have contributed an original song titled “Celebrate Happy” that captures the essence of the celebration and will be featured throughout the park.
Disney California Adventure will showcase “World of Color: Happiness.” The new multimedia production features characters from Pixar's "Inside Out" and special appearances by the Muppets (a must-see before the show). Meanwhile, the beloved "Wondrous Journeys” fierworks spectacular, which debuted during the Disney 100-year anniversary, will return to Disneyland Park, celebrating 60 Disney animation films.
Guests can also look forward to the return of the "Paint the Night" parade with new elements, including a refreshed costume for Tinker Bell and enhancements to the Frozen float. A new parade called "Better Together, Pixar House Celebration" will honor friendship and highlight recent Pixar films.
New Offerings and Special Moments
Several new offerings have been created specifically for the 70th celebration. The "Celebrate Happy Cavalcade" will feature modern, pop-art designs inspired by the anniversary logo with contemporary choreography and music.
"Tapestry of Happiness," a five-minute projection show at "It's a small world," draws inspiration from Mary Blair's distinctive artistic style and incorporates musical references from various Disney attractions. At Disney California Adventure, "Celebrate Happy" will light up Carthay Circle nightly with a unique Tinker Bell performance.
Younger guests will enjoy the new "Disney Junior Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" live show, which is as a mini musical for the entire family. The show features five original songs and includes audience interaction—and of course, a few surprises.
In another milestone moment, Duffy and Shellie May will make their Disneyland debut, celebrating Duffy's 20th anniversary as the bear of happiness and luck.
Another new offering will make it’s debut on July 17. An homage to the songwriting duo, the Sherman Brothers, will play in the Main Street Cinema and a new verse playing in the titular song of "it's a small world."
Of coure, there will be multiple merchandise collections that will be released during the course of the celebration. These include apparel, collectibles, toys and more. From the colorful Disneyland Resort 70th Anniversary Celebration Collection to the vintage-inspired Vault Collection, there is something for all ages and a variety of style preferences.
