U.S.-based travel agency air ticket sales totaled four percent under February 2024, totaling $8.6 billion this past month, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) data.
The number of trips also decreased by one percent year-over-year, for a total of 24 million passenger trips taken in February 2025.
The total sales decreased by eight percent from January 2025, when sales were at $9.3 billion. Last year was a record-breaking year for air ticket sales, generating $99.2 billion with 284.9 million passenger trips.
This past February, domestic and international trips fell by 10 percent from January but only 1 and 2 percent from the year prior. The average ticket price remained relatively steady, at $562.
“U.S. travel agency air ticket sales are reflecting the overall demand volatility seen by airlines,” said Steve Solomon, chief commercial officer at ARC. “Macroeconomic trends are creating a more dynamic environment for consumers, businesses and airlines in the short term. Even with fewer passengers traveling compared to January, our year-over-year data for both domestic and international trips remains steady.”
